Prayer for Deliverance from Addiction
Lord Jesus Christ, I bring this addiction before You. I confess that I have used [name the substance/behavior] to numb, to escape, to comfort, to medicate. I am tired. I cannot do this on my own. I want to be free.
I confess every sin connected to this addiction — what I have done, what I have neglected, what I have hidden, what I have damaged. By Your blood, wash me clean.
I forgive every person who first introduced me to this, who modeled it for me, who wounded me in ways that left me looking for relief. I release them to You.
In the Name of Jesus, I renounce the spirit of addiction. I renounce every agreement I have made with this bondage. I renounce the lies that come with it — that I cannot stop, that this is who I am, that I am beyond help. Spirit of addiction, you have no authority over me. Leave me now, in the Name of Jesus.
Holy Spirit, fill what this addiction has been used to fill. Give me Your peace, Your comfort, Your joy. Father, restore me. Lord Jesus, walk me through the steps of recovery one day at a time.

Prayer is one tool among several, and addiction usually requires all of them: regular honest confession to God and to at least one person who will tell you the truth; a recovery community that meets consistently; clinical support where it is warranted; removal of access (apps, accounts, environments); and daily time in scripture. Use all of it.

Confess it — to God and to your sponsor or counselor, the same day if you can. Pray this prayer again. Relapse is not the end of the road; it is a hard moment on the road. The Father's mercy is bigger.
