Prayer for Protection Against Evil Spirits
A focused prayer asking the Lord's protection over you, your home, and your family from spiritual interference — grounded in Psalm 91.
Christians have prayed Psalm 91 for protection from spiritual evil for two thousand years. It is short, it is potent, and it is what scripture itself gives us as the template. The prayer below combines Psalm 91, God's promise of angelic guard, and a brief covering of household and family.
The biblical foundation
Because you have the LORD for your refuge and have made the Most High your stronghold, no evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent. For he commands his angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go.
— Psalm 91:9–11
Psalm 91 is the protection psalm — long known among soldiers and intercessors alike as the passage to pray when the night feels loud. Pray it slowly. Let it sink in.
The prayer
Prayer for Protection
Lord Jesus, by Your precious blood I cover myself, my family, my home, and all that You have entrusted to me. I plead the protection of Your blood over every doorway, every window, every room, every person, every relationship.
Heavenly Father, You command Your angels concerning me, to guard me in all my ways. Send Your holy angels to surround this home and this family. Let no evil enter.
Every spirit assigned against this household — I command you in the Name of Jesus Christ to stop your work and go. You have no claim here. This home belongs to the Lord.
Lord, You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. I will not fear the terror of the night. You are enough.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
How to pray this
- Pray it daily — morning and night where you can.
- If you have a home, walk through each room once, praying it room by room.
- Pray it over each person in your family by name.
- If you sense a specific point of spiritual attack, pray it with focused intent against that point.
- Pair it with ongoing repentance and worship as long-term protection.
Why this prayer includes the angels
Asking God to send His angels is not an exotic practice — it is taking Him at His word. Psalm 91:11 says He commands His angels concerning us, to guard us in all our ways. Hebrews 1:14 calls them ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. We do not pray to angels; we ask the Father to send what He has already promised.
If the same struggle returns
Some seasons of life require more protection than others — a new job, a move, a relational crisis, a loss. Pray protection more frequently in those seasons. There is no such thing as too much protection prayer.
What this prayer is NOT
Not a superstitious incantation. Not a guarantee that nothing hard will happen. Not a substitute for prudence (lock your doors, take care of your health, build community). Protection prayer works alongside common sense, not against it.
