How ungodly soul ties form
- Sexual relationships outside marriage
- Pornography (a soul tie can form with what was viewed)
- Controlling or manipulative relationships
- Occult agreements with another person (séances, joint divination, etc.)
- Sometimes from inner vows ("I will never let anyone in again")
How to sever them
- Identify the specific tie — name the person, the situation
- Confess any sin involved — honestly and specifically
- Forgive the person if any forgiveness is needed
- Renounce the soul tie out loud in the Name of Jesus
- Ask the Lord to sever it by His blood
- Declare freedom and right ordering in your soul
Walking it out
Some soul ties sever cleanly with one prayer; others take repeated prayer over time, especially where there was significant emotional investment. Stay in prayer and community. Where the relationship was deeply wounding, consider counseling alongside the deliverance prayer.
