Past occult involvement, whether in childhood curiosity or as an active practice as an adult, opens spiritual doorways. There is no reason to panic about this — scripture gives a clear, repeatable process for closing the doors and walking free.
What scripture says
Let there not be found among you anyone who immolates his son or daughter in the fire, nor a fortune-teller, soothsayer, charmer, diviner, or caster of spells, nor one who consults ghosts and spirits or seeks oracles from the dead. Anyone who does such things is an abomination to the LORD.

What scripture says about it
Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury...

Sorcery appears there in the same breath as the sins nobody argues about. Scripture is not squeamish and it is not sensational — it simply treats occult practice as a real category of sin with real consequences, and it treats renunciation as the ordinary way out.
The path to freedom
- List every specific occult involvement (be honest with yourself)
- Confess them honestly — to God, and out loud to a trusted believer or pastor
- Renounce each one out loud in the Name of Jesus
- Remove physical items (Acts 19:19)
- Pray for ongoing protection
- Consider one-on-one deliverance prayer if heaviness remains
If it was childhood curiosity
Even childhood involvement with ouija, fortune telling, or other practices can open real doorways. The good news: those doorways close cleanly with sincere renunciation in the Name of Jesus. Do not minimize and do not panic.
Walking it out
After praying, stay in scripture and community. Watch for any specific items, memories, or influences that surface — renounce each as it comes. Do not engage with anyone offering new occult practices. The Lord is fully able to set you free from every entanglement.
